Crushing news hit Keimin as the trial of Mchreil vs. Cupboard went underway. S’voltr Mchreil suffered from a devastating blow to his business and to his family as fellow Mchreils were brutally, and graphically murdered by a human blood mage identified as Isias or “Twitch.” A former Crusader of the Council, Isias “Twitch” is documented as having been a member as far back as the Crusaders of the Crown, and was described as “small,” “sickly” “mute” “rabid” “pale” and “red-eyed.”
Originating from Isiastride, Famardy, Isias was charged guilty on all accounts, ranging from murder, petty theft, aggravated magical assault, and destruction of property. What led the blood mage to be caught was its hubris, attempting to lead his former teammates into the depths of the Capitol Bank of Jarlsjalfi, and murder them there, and set explosives to the money. Both failed, and Isias was brought in for sentencing. Mchreil, livid with anger and revenge, served as prosecutor, and immediately brought forth Death Penalty as the only reasonable punishment for the oddly pale mage. Elder Cupboard of Bree served as the Defender, and pushed for rehabilitation at the Keimin-renowned Ryque family.
The Council, in yet another display of corruption, did not punish the psychopath remotely, and instead sent it to rehabilitation, with no desire to make him pay for any of his crimes. However, Kasinthia was quick to violently react to such a tragedy. The Paladin Order was quick to double its hours, to stop from any blood mages from getting any ideas from the event. Furthermore, a cry against the Crusaders were once again for their supposed harboring of crazy sociopathic murderers. Whatever mental tests the Council is running, is quite clearly not enough.
Further questions could not be answered, for unfortunately our dear reporters were kicked out of the trial for asking the right questions, and the Council ignored them in favor of their own Kangaroo Court. Luckily, it allowed us to immediately go and make contact with the hometown of the psychopath, which had been accused of torturing the blood mage into the killing machine it is today.
Isiastride replied thusly:
“We have never, nor ever will, tortured someone for the sake of killing anyone. We are pacifist in nature – as evidenced by our exclusion from the Famardian military in exchange for higher taxes to pay. The child known as ‘Twitch’ has clearly strayed from our peaceful teachings. As a result, we have chosen to excommunicate the child from our religion, our culture, and city. We hope this display of grace will allow you to understand that we had no effect in what became of the murderer. If the cause of these unfortunate events come anywhere near our city, we will have to take more extreme measures.”
–High Priest of Isiastride
In the mean time, the funeral arrangements for the Mchreil family will be held this week, and will be done in a private gathering, with only the surviving family members and closest friends attending. It is expected for the bank to re-open by Wednesday, a true testament to the Mchreil family tenacity. Despite this, stocks have plummeted for the businesses involved, and it’s expected to keep diving until new business executives are hired to stabilize the bank.
The Ryque family, when receiving Isias for rehabilitation, described him as “quiet,” “polite” and “oddly well spoken.” Further news on this situation has yet to unfold, but it looks like the controversy has just begun.
